Arsenal transfer news – Mikel Arteta signs Kai Havertz

While it has not been officially confirmed, the deal for Arsenal to sign Kai Havertz seems all but done. As reported by the BBC, Arsenal and Chelsea have agreed upon a £65m fee to sign Havertz, with just medicals and contracts to be signed. Personal terms with the player were pre-agreed since he always wanted to join Arsenal.

That’s the first deal done for Mikel Arteta, more to come I hope!

Arsenal transfer news – Saudi clubs name their Thomas Partey price

One player who is likely to depart the club this summer is Thomas Partey. He is an ageing midfielder and despite his great form, might not have a future under Arteta as he plans his midfield rebuild.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Saudi clubs are prepared to pay €40m (£34.4m) in instalments to sign Partey. For context, he signed from Atletico Madrid in 2020 for £45m, meaning this would be a loss of over £10m. Not the best deal for Arteta, especially with the instalments, but it might be a case of this being better than nothing.
