It’s that time of year again – the transfer window is open. As an Arsenal fan, it’s difficult to know what to believe. This is because the club are prone to being linked with sensationalist moves, with the board not really bothering to invest in the team.

Well, that was until recently. See, the boss Mikel Arteta has got the team clicking and now they genuinely compete for trophies. Also, with the Gunners being back in the Champions League next season, this will add to their transfer pull and allocate more funds to Arteta’s budget.

Therefore, it is no surprise to see the Gunners linked with big names. The list includes Declan Rice, Kai Havertz, Joao Cancelo, Moises Caicedo and Ilkay Gundogan. So, some great players who would benefit Arteta, to say the least.

But how legitimate is Arsenal’s interest in these players? Well, a report which has emerged within the last hours gives a positive update to the first two players, Declan Rice and Kai Havertz.

According to Sky Sports Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg, who is trusted with all news regarding Bayern Munich and other Bundesliga clubs, Arsenal are “very confident” they can sign BOTH Kai Havertz and Declan Rice.

The reason why German reporters are relevant to this transfer saga is because Bayern Munich are also interested in signing Rice and Havertz. Therefore, with Plettenberg giving Arsenal the front-runner status for both players, this shows what the consensus is like in Munich.

Although, there is still a meeting which will take place from Bayern Munich officials. We know they are not the type to lay down and accept defeat. They will push Arsenal right till the very end. They need to strengthen in the midfield just as much as Mikel Arteta does.

Who would you like to see Arsenal sign in the summer transfer window?
