Arsenal are due a busy summer transfer window. After bottling the Premier League title to Manchester City, they must invest heavily into the squad to avoid the same result next season.

How Arsenal could lineup next season

With their transfer targets in mind, here’s how Arsenal could lineup next season:

GK: Aaron Ramsdale (depth – Matt Turner)

No changes between the sticks. Aaron Ramsdale was one of the best keepers in the league last season and he’s only young. Further, Turner is happy to play backup and in the cup competitions.

LB: Oleksandr Zinchenko (depth – Takehiro Tomiyasu and Joao Cancelo)

With Tomiyasu hopefully having a fruitful recovery from injury and Oleksandr Zinchenko proving a great signing last season, this position should be fully covered for Mikel Arteta.

CBs: William Saliba and Gabriel (depth – Ben White and Marc Guehi)

The priority signings in defence should be a new full-back AND a new centre back. This way, Ben White could be used as either a centre back or right back, and no injury to Arsenal’s centre backs will sway them like they did last season.

RB: Joao Cancelo (depth – Sacha Boey and Ben White)

If Arsenal do pull off the signings of Joao Cancelo and Ben White, this would bulk up the defence MASSIVELY.

CDM: Declan Rice

This would be the signing of summer and one that hopefully Arsenal can pull off, particularly given the competition in Bayern Munich.

CM: Ilkay Gundogan (depth – Emile Smith Rowe)

It’ll be a hard one to pull off, but hopefully Mikel Arteta can work his charm with free agent Ilkay Gundogan.

CAM: Martin Odegaard (depth – Fabio Vieira)

Don’t fix what’s not broken. The captain will retain his place next season.

LW: Gabriel Martinelli (depth – Leandro Trossard)

Mikel Arteta won’t have to worry about losing these two, both of them tied under long-term contracts.

ST: Gabriel Jesus (depth – Eddie Nketiah)

I do think it’ll be Balogun who is sold, with Nketiah proving to be invaluable backup whenever Gabriel Jesus is injured.

RW: Bukayo Saka (depth – Reiss Nelson)

With Bukayo Saka tied down to a new deal, Arsenal fans hope that Reiss Nelson will follow his fellow Hale End graduate and provide sufficient backup.
