Fulham are interested in a Spanish striker Fran Navarro from Gil Vicente
According to recent reports, Fulham is evaluating the situation of Gil Vicente striker Fran Navarro. The Spanish player shone this season in Portugal’s Primeira Liga.
Cottagers manager Marco Silva has capped off a successful debut Premier League campaign, with Fulham comfortably avoiding relegation and even finishing above West London rivals Chelsea.
The Craven Cottage resident team secured one of their highest-ever league results last season with a top-half-place finish and even competed for European football for a period.
Porto midfielder Mateus Uribe has been mentioned in recent months, potentially as an alternative to Joao Palhinha should the latter leave, and Manchester United duo Fred and Harry Maguire are also rumoured to be on the look at Fulham.
Now, according to The Evening Standard and journalist Dom Smith, it appears that Fulham has other potential attacking additions in mind, despite there being no indication that Aleksandar Mitrovic or Carlos Vinicius are leaving.
In fact, Fulham is believed to be considering a move for Fran Navarro from Gil Vicente ahead of this summer transfer window.
The 25-year-old has been in exceptional form in the Primeira Liga, which could generate interest from the London club, and it will be imperative for them to build on what has been a solid season.
Who is Fran Navarro?
The Spaniard ‘graduated’ from Valencia’s academy and scored a host of goals at youth level with them, but he failed to break into the first team and eventually signed for Gil Vicente in Portugal.
He scored 21 goals in all competitions during the 2022/2023 season, standing out as their star striker and perhaps justifying why both Liverpool and Real Madrid had an interest in 2016.
The then 18-year-old was on Madrid’s and Jurgen Klopp’s radar as a promising youngster, according to a Super Deporte report, but Navarro’s value has now risen significantly after a brilliant season.
