West Ham United shortlist 3 midfielders as Declan Rice replacements

With that being said, West Ham United have shortlisted three replacements, given the high likelihood he’ll leave the club this summer. According to Football Transfers, they are as follows:

1) James Ward-Prowse

With Southampton relegated from the Premier League, their free kick maestro and club legend James Ward-Prowse is looking for a move away from the club. West Ham see him as the ideal replacement for their departing English midfielder Declan Rice.

2) Conor Gallagher

Chelsea are set for a huge summer clear out, and they need it. With their attempts to balance the books, the fans will see a lot of player sales, with the younger players likely to be the ones missing out.

Football Transfers claim that West Ham are interested in bringing Gallagher to work under David Moyes. The English midfielder is box-to-box so offers a different approach to Declan Rice who is more of a traditional number six, but he could certainly adapt.

3) Scott McTominay

Of the three players listed by Football Transfers, Scott McTominay of Manchester United is the most like-for-like replacement for Declan Rice. The Scottish midfielder is surplus to requirements at Old Trafford, particularly given the potential incoming Mason Mount.
