With the Premier League title wrapped up, Manchester City now have two huge cup finals to look forward to, against Manchester United in the FA Cup on 3rd June, followed by the Champions League finals against Inter Milan, seven days later.

However, seems like the management is already looking towards strengthening their squad for next season. There’s the Joao Cancelo puzzle as his loan at Bayern Munich is over, while Neymar has been linked with the Sky Blues too.

Manchester City transfer news – Joao Cancelo unlikely to return

Joao Cancelo left Manchester City for Bayern Munich in January on a half-season loan but he was unable to nail down a starting berth.

According to Sky Sports Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg, the Bundesliga champions may not extend his contract and Cancelo could return to Etihad, but given his fall-out with Pep Guardiola, the Portuguese full-back might as well consider other options on the table.

Barcelonan are said to be interested in the player but given their financial crisis right now, securing a deal looks difficult right now.

Manchester City transfer news – Guardiola probes the possibility of Neymar signing

In terms of new acquisitions, Manchester City head coach Pep Guardiola is reportedly keen on Neymar. French news outlet L’Equipe reported that the Spaniard even reached out to the 31-year-old understand his future plans.

There are rumors that Neymar is unhappy with PSG for their repeated failures in the Champions League. He’s also been ravaged by injuries throughout his spell in the French capital thus far, including a serious ankle problem that has sidelined him since February.

Despite Guardiola’s supposed interest in the player, L’Equipe added that City will not pursue a deal for Neymar in the summer. Manchester United, Chelsea and Newcastle United are the other English teams rumored to have the former Barcelona ace on their radar.
