Arsenal return to their former striker target who rejected them in 2022
By Kian Long
Arsenal hope to improve on this season, where they looked flawless in the first three quarters of the season but bottled it towards the end. They have a squad capable of lifting the Premier League trophy next season but they must address the loose bolts.
One of those loose bolts being their striker situation. Of course, they have Gabriel Jesus who has been a very good signing but when he’s injured or suspended, they don’t have adequate backup. Eddie Nketiah is just okay – he’s nowhere near the level of backup which City possess in Julian Alvarez, though.
Therefore, while signing a few midfielders is the priority for Mikel Arteta, he won’t be forgetting about signing a new striker.

Arsenal want to sign Dusan Vlahovic
According to TuttoMercatoWeb (via TeamTalk), Edu is currently leading the charge to sign Dusan Vlahovic from Juventus. Ironically, it was Juventus who snatched Vlahovic from Arsenal in January 2022, where they looked likely to sign the Serbia international.
However, since Vlahovic signed for Juventus, it’s fair to say the Old Lady hasn’t seen a return on their investment. This is not a fault of the player, more a fault of the system he’s played under which is defensive and doesn’t suit his killer finishing ability.
If Vlahovic returns to his best under an attacking system, he could even be an upgrade on Gabriel Jesus. I know that’s a bold shout since when Jesus is fit he’s often the best player on the pitch, but when Vlahovic is at his best he’s a calibre above the rest.
There’s a reason why Edu has been a fan of Vlahovic for the longest time and hasn’t given up despite Juve’s mistreatment of him. It’s also important to note that Newcastle are also wanting to sign Vlahovic, so Edu must be quick to snatch him.
