Arsenal have had quite a surprising season, I think it’s fair to say. Although you can trace their progression looking back, nobody predicted them to be title contenders this season, particularly for most of the season.
With that in mind, it’s a testament to some of the changes made by Mikel Arteta. The Arsenal boss has made some risky choices during his time at Arsenal, for example selling former club captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, giving up on Mesut Ozil and converting Ben White to right-back. However, in hindsight, most of the decisions made by Arteta have been the right decisions.
One of the decisions which people are yet to understand is the decision to drop Emile Smith Rowe this season. The England international who was Arsenal’s best player last season, is yet to make a start in any competition. Granted, he’s been unlucky with injuries, but even when fit, he hasn’t been called upon.
Emile Smith Rowe tipped to start for Arsenal against Wolves
Mikel Arteta has hinted that Leandro Trossard may be injured and unavailable for selection against Wolves. Naturally, he would’ve been the option to replace Gabriel Martinelli who is also injured. This means there COULD be a space to be filled on the left-hand side of the front three.
This is a position which Emile Smith Rowe is capable of filling, so he’s being tipped to start the final match of the season against Wolves. Ironically, it would be the Hale End graduate’s first AND last start of the season, in what has been an underwhelming campaign for the Englishman.
Smith Rowe could be one of the players which Mikel Arteta moves on as he looks to make wholesale changes in the summer transfer window. Let’s see how Smith Rowe reacts if he’s given his first start of the season.
