Arsenal predicted lineup vs Wolves: Mikel Arteta wants to end on a high
By Kian Long
It’s been an awful end to the season for Arsenal. As much as I love this group of players and I’m certain they’ll bounce back next season – they have bottled it. No two ways about it, really.
However, with the final game of the season coming up against Wolves, Mikel Arteta will want to field his strongest possible lineup to end what has overall been a good season on the high it deserves.
For Arsenal transfer news, click here.
Firstly, it will be Aaron Ramsdale in goal. Having been selected in the recent England squad, he’ll want to justify his selection by keeping a clean sheet here.
Protecting him will be a centre back partnership of Gabriel and Jakub Kiwior, which is by no means the strongest but what Mikel Arteta must go for given the injury to Saliba. On the right, Ben White will start and on the left, it will surely be Kieran Tierney. Given that it’s likely his last game and the Gunners have nothing to play for, it would be very controversial if Arteta didn’t start him again.
Then, it will be the same midfield three which has started in all of Arsenal’s strongest games this season. Thomas Partey and Martin Odegaard will start but the man who’ll get the most headlines is Granit Xhaka. It’s Xhaka’s final game in an Arsenal shirt and it’ll be an emotional one given the commitment and determination he’s given to the club since he signed from Gladbach.
Completing the team is an energetic and prolific front three of Gabriel Jesus, Leandro Trossard and Bukayo Saka. The January signing Trossard comes in to replace Gabriel Martinelli who won’t be available in this game through injury.
Every game in the Premier League is tough, but Arsenal have brushed aside tougher opponents this season. The message which Arteta will vocalise in the dressing room is to give the fans one last reason to celebrate, since they’ve been incredible this season.
