Arsenal have had an absolutely stellar season, with many of their players rightfully being accredited by the masses. Every player has improved significantly this season and so they’re silencing the doubters, but none more so than Aaron Ramsdale.

Being an Aaron Ramsdale fan last season was tough. Although he would consistently put in blinding performances, the same critique would always be made of him – “but he’s been relegated before!!!” Well, that critique can finally be put to bed. Aaron Ramsdale has been one of Arsenal’s best players this season in a campaign by which the worst-placed finish they can achieve is second.

Thankfully for Arsenal fans, his long-term future has been secured. Well, at least for the next 5 years.

According to the transfer guru and in-the-know expert Fabrizio Romano, Aaron Ramsdale has verbally agreed to sign a new contract. The contract will last until 2028, with the final details set to be dealt with over the coming days.

That’s great news for fans. Countless times over the last number of seasons, they’ve hyped up players only to have them leave for cheap or even free. Take a look at Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil for example. Those two ran down their contracts until the only thing Arsenal could rectify from their departures was Henrikh Mkhitaryan. The less said about him the better.

It remains to be seen what Ramsdale’s new wage is set to be, but it’s expected to be significantly higher. ESPN has reported that the new deal would grant Ramsdale a significant salary increase, reflecting his status as a top six goalkeeper.

While there’s a lot of talk about Arsenal investing in their squad in the summer transfer window, it’s good to see they’re starting with internal investments.
