Liverpool Transfer News (May 08) – In the latest transfer news regarding Liverpool, there is an update on the pursuit of Alexis Mac Allister and an often forgotten-about midfielder confirms they will leave the club this summer.

Liverpool Transfer News – Arthur Melo Confirms He Will Leave Liverpool

Arthur Melo confirmed to football site Goal that he will indeed leave Liverpool in the summer. Arthur was on-loan at Liverpool from Juventus this season but made just a single appearance after needing surgery mid-season. The Brazilian midfielder struggled to regain fitness even post-surgery, playing just a Premier League 2 match in late February. Liverpool did have an option-to-buy clause for Arthur but of course, that was not getting triggered. Arthur states that he is looking for a new challenge and may return to La Liga.

Liverpool Transfer News – Alexis Mac Allister’s Contract Does Contain a “Clause”

As reported by The Athletic, it is believed that there is a clause in Brighton midfielder Alexis Mac Allister’s contract. What is not fully known is what exactly the clause does or means. It is not a straightforward release clause. There is reportedly something in the contract that has risen the interest in Mac Allister. While the report may seem like it is saying a whole lot of nothing, it is likely a clause that forces Brighton into negotiation with interested parties.

Liverpool Transfer News – Liverpool Close to Appointing New Sporting Director

As first broken by The Telegraph, Liverpool is closing in on making Jorg Schmadtke the club’s new sporting director. Schmadtke is apparently a close ‘ally’ of Jurgen Klopp and will work alongside chief scouts at Liverpool in his role. Schmadtke has previously been the sporting director at Wolfsburg, Koln, and Hannover. Most recently at Wolfsburg, Schmadtke spent 5 years at the club and oversaw the transfer strategy. Notable transfers include Lukas Nmecha, Ridle Baku, and Maxence Lacroix. Schmadtke also sold striker Victor Osihmen to Lille for under £11M in can be classified as a massive mistake in hindsight.
