As first broken by The Telegraph, Liverpool is closing in on making Jorg Schmadtke the club’s new sporting director. Schmadtke is apparently a close ‘ally’ of Jurgen Klopp and will work alongside chief scouts at Liverpool in his role. Schmadtke has previously been the sporting director at Wolfsburg, Koln, and Hannover. Most recently at Wolfsburg, Schmadtke spent 5 years at the club and oversaw the transfer strategy.
