Arsenal will likely see a continued overhaul of their squad this summer and there has been a big update on potential departee Reiss Nelson

According to Sami Mokbel of the Daily Mail, Arsenal is expecting to see winger Reiss Nelson leave the club this summer. Nelson has rejected the latest contract offer from Arsenal and with his contract ending this summer, he can leave on a free. Further reporting from Mokbel suggests that fellow Premier League side Brighton Hove & Albion are set to target Reiss Nelson should he be available this summer.

Reiss Nelson has perhaps one of the most fascinating stat lines in the Premier League this season.  Due to injury problems in his thigh, Nelson has been limited to just 138 minutes of action in the top flight this season. Despite this, he has 3 goals and 2 assists, averaging a goal contribution every 23 minutes. Nelson’s most notable contribution of the season was when he scored a stoppage-time winner against Bournemouth. He had also assisted on Ben White’s equalizer in what was an enthralling comeback from 0-2 at the Emirates.

Arsenal will be looking to build off their progress this season under Mikel Arteta. Part of that will surely come through adding even more talent via the summer transfer window. The club has been linked to a whole host of forwards this year, as reported by The Top Flight. While a last-minute contract acceptance from Nelson should not be off the table, it looks like Arsenal is moving past the possibility of bringing the 23-year-old back. It should be noted that the club also has to make a decision with loaned-out Florian Balogun, who fortunately for Arsenal is still under contract until 2025.

Nelson is a Hale End academy product having joined at just 9 years old. He’s never found consistent playing time at Arsenal. Unfortunately, he has had multiple injuries that have caused career setbacks.
