Arsenal transfer news – Mikel Arteta wants to sell Granit Xhaka

This one is a huge, huge surprise.

According to the Daily Mail, Mikel Arteta is prepared to listen to offers for Granit Xhaka in the summer. The players who will also be up for sale include Kieran Tierney and Folarin Balogun.

With reports liknking the Gunners to big-money transfers in midfield such as Declan Rice or Moises Caicedo, I guess it makes sense to raise funds, but Arteta has been known to improve Granit Xhaka in terms of his playing style and mentality tenfold.

According to Express, Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has now cooled his interest in signing big-money players such as Declan Rice and Moises Caicedo. Despite being heavily linked with the two Premier League midfielders, Arteta  thinks the resources would be better spread across multiple cheaper options.

It’s important to address that these are just rumours. Other rumours suggest that the Kroenke’s want to encourage investments into the squad. Moral of the story, don’t believe everything you read.

According to David Ornstein, the trusted Arsenal journalist, Mikel Arteta has shortlisted his favourite 4 midfield transfer targets. They are Declan Rice, Mason Mount, Moises Caicedo and Mohammed Kudus. Interestingly, Rice and Caicedo are still listed by Arsenal, counteracting previous claims from the Express. I guess that only Arsenal know who they plan to sign.
