Arsenal’s defeat to Manchester City yesterday didn’t just leave them playing a near-impossible catch-up in the Premier League title race but it sent a deadly message about Mikel Arteta. Unfortunately, despite him being a great man-manager and tactician, he has his favourites in this Arsenal team.

The likes of Leandro Trossard, Reiss Nelson and Emile Smith Rowe all came from the bench to make an impact which left many wondering why they were left on the bench in the first place.

There are a number of players on the cusp of first team football who just cannot make it at the Emirates Stadium. This can only mean one thing – wholesale changes in the summer transfer window.

According to Football 365, Aston Villa boss and former Arsenal boss Unai Emery wants to make the most out of Emile Smith Rowe’s disappointment by bringing him to Villa Park.

Let’s not forget that last season, Smith Rowe was the second top goal scorer for Arsenal. This time round, he’s struggling to get even 10 minutes of action from the bench.

Unai Emery had a great experience of working with Emile Smith Rowe. In many ways, he’s partly to accredit for the English youngster being the player he is today. Emery is cooking up some great things at Aston Villa and he wants to take Smith Rowe on the ride with him.

Aston Villa haven’t lost in their last five Premier League games and have reached a great position of fifth in the Premier League. Although teams around them have played less games, if results go their way between now and the end of the season, Villa could easily qualify for European football next season. This, ultimately, is where Emery produces his best tactical work.

Do you think Emile Smith Rowe would leave Arsenal to join Aston Villa?
