The two London teams Chelsea and Spurs have been the subject of breaking news over the last 24 hours. Naturally, they have been conflicted with each other’s interests as both of the club’s boards seek the appointment of a new top-quality manager, with limited options on the market.

According to the latest report from talkSPORT, former Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino has reached a verbal agreement with Chelsea to take over as their new manager. This is just rubbing salt into the wounds of Spurs, after they were humiliated in the Premier League last weekend, conceding 5 goals in the opening 20 minutes against Newcastle United.

Everything you need to know about Chelsea securing Mauricio Pochettino

  • According to The Telegraph, Mauricio Pochettino has not been using an agent as he himself seeks to alter the fine adjustments to his potential contract at Chelsea. Risky business given the crooked nature of the Chelsea board but it shows that Pochettino is willing and eager to negotiate with the club’s owners.
  • According to journalist Simon Phillips, Mauricio Pochettino admires Kai Havertz. Therefore, it’s likely that the German forward will be a big part of Poch’s plans at Stamford Bridge if he does sign the deal.
  • According to The Mirror (via football365), salty pundit Jermaine Jenas has made it clear that Pochettino was very open to managing at Spurs again. However, Jenas feels like he is only choosing Chelsea because Spurs didn’t want him. Cry some more tears.
  • According to The Boot Room, Spurs legend Harry Redknapp thinks Poch could join forces with Harry Kane again at Stamford Bridge. It’s thought that the England striker is building a house in London, essentially dismissing any rumours he wants to sign for Manchester United. It would make sense, Redknapp feels, since Kane is a family man.
