2. Moises Caicedo

The second option which Mikel Arteta is considering, according to David Ornstein, is Moises Caicedo. This should come as no surprise to fans, since the club tried desperately to sign him throughout the January transfer window, before Brighton and Hove Albion blocked him from leaving.

There is a spanner in the works when it comes to Moises Caicedo. He signed a contract extension at the Amex Stadium which, let’s face it, he was forced into signing. This means that the club won’t let him go for cheap, even if they’re willing to enter negotiations with Arsenal again.

However, Brighton should expect to lose a few of their best players this summer. They all want to move onto better things and nobody can blame them. I think it speaks subtly to how the club treats the players behind the scenes, that Caicedo AND Alexis Mac Allister both want the club.

Caicedo is seen as the second option for Arsenal at number 6, but of course, they won’t stop there. The recruitment team has also shortlisted some more attacking midfielders, who would fill the number 8 role.
