The appointment of Erik ten Hag marked a new beginning for Manchester United. From winning the League Cup to being on the verge of finishing third, the Dutchman brought a positive change to the club. While Europe seems certain for the team next season, ten Hag will be on the hunt for new signings to bolster the chances of United winning more silverware next season.

Among the many players on their Wishlist, Manchester United has developed a keen interest in signing Atalanta striker Ramsus Hojlund. Aged 20, Hojlund’s performances impressed the United hierarchy. However, securing the player won’t be easy as the club faces stiff competition from European giants Real Madrid.

As per reports, both United and Madrid have submitted a letter to express their interest in acquiring Hojlund’s services. While the teams have not made a formal offer, the written statements show that both clubs will be keeping a keen watch on the development of the Danish forward.

It is also interesting to note that United and Madrid are not the only teams monitoring Hojlund. Apparently, the Serie A star is closely being watched by clubs like AC Milan, Bayern Munich, FC Barcelona, and Chelsea. In fact, it is reported that Chelsea met with the Atalanta President to discuss a potential deal.

Manchester United target Ramsus Hojlund is having a terrific season

Ramsus Hojlund arrived at Atalanta in the summer of 2022. While he did not make the starting eleven initially, the Danish forward has been a regular feature for the Atalanta side since January 2023. In 26 appearances for the club, Hojlund has scored seven goals and dished out three assists. In doing so, the player has displayed a great skill set.

Just like Erling Haaland, Hojlund too has a great combination of pace and power. The 20-year-old can be an ideal striker for United because he loves to drop deep and link play. Standing at 6’4 frame, Hojlund uses his frame very well to win aerial duels and impose his physicality. Overall, the player has what it takes to be a success if he can keep his performance up.
