German giants Bayern Munich are going through a rough patch and the latest bad news is that Manchester City wants Alphonso Davies

According to Florian Plettenberg of Sky Sports Germany, Manchester City (and Real Madrid) have Alphonso Davies on their shortlist of summer targets. Plettenberg mentions that a move for the Canadian international could come as soon as this summer. The news drops just days after Manchester City thumped Bayern Munich 3-0 at Etihad Stadium in Manchester.

With Davies’ contract expiring in 2025, there is reason to believe this could just be agent talk but given that Manchester City looks to no longer favour Joao Cancelo, it could be an avenue for them to explore. Funny enough, Cancelo is on-loan at Bayern Munich and has taken away some playtime from Alphonso Davies given they play on the left flank.

The flexibility of Manchester City under Pep Guardiola has seen many players move around so having someone like Alphonso Davies who plays anywhere down the left side could also be enticing. Davies began his career as a midfielder for the Vancouver Whitecaps and transitioned his way into a left back. It’s too early to grasp Davies’ exact role under Tuchel who often played with wingbacks at Chelsea. Under Nagelsmann, Alphonso Davies was given the freedom to roam up the left side of the pitch as much as he’d like.

Given the status of Alphonso Davies, who is often regarded as one of the best left-backs in the world, Manchester City would likely have to pay a hefty price. Additionally, Alphonso Davies has gone on record to state that he would like to be at Bayern for a long time, but the current turmoil at the club may change his line of thinking.

How much would Manchester City have to pay for Alphonso Davies? Do you feel it makes sense?
