For the first time in a while, Manchester United fans were able to watch a game of football comfortably. They beat Nottingham Forest in the Premier League yesterday by a scoreline of 2-0, with players gelling like they hadn’t in quite a while.

Admittedly, this chemistry was helped a great deal by the return of Christian Eriksen to the midfield. Returning from injury, he added a sustained balance to the heart of the midfield, creating multiple chances alongside his counterpart Bruno Fernandes, while Casemiro held the defensive midfield line well.

This midfield three is certainly the strongest available to Erik ten Hag. While Marcel Sabitzer has impressed, particularly in the home leg against Sevilla, he doesn’t make it into the starting eleven when all midfielders are fit and available.

Thankfully for Sabitzer, though, he’ll get a chance against Sevilla away from home too. In what is an important match for the Red Devils, Bruno Fernandes is unavailable through suspension. Therefore, the trio which Manchester United fans have been craving for the longest time, will now be tore apart from them.

It’s only for one game but it’s perhaps the most important game of United’s season so far. I mean, nobody really takes the Carabao Cup seriously, do they? This is a chance for United to win legitimate silverware and let’s not forget, with the race for top four heating up, Champions League qualification through winning the Europa League is still on.

Manchester United pointed out this weekend that Sevilla recorded a huge league win away from home to Valencia. Not to put any pressure on the United lads, but this is certainly going to be a confidence boost for Sevilla to snatch a win against them. It’s going to be a fascinating watch, regardless.

Do you think Manchester United can progress against Sevilla?
