Chelsea given major injury boost, key player returns for Real Madrid clash
By Kian Long
Chelsea look like they have no hope this season. Caretaker manager Frank Lampard is unsurprisingly useless, like he has been throughout his entire managerial career. However, there’s still a glimmer of hope, but they must play their cards right.
The Blues face an uphill battle to recover from their 2 goal deficit in the Champions League to Real Madrid. Many have been quick to write them off but it would be the most Chelsea thing ever to lose the remaining Premier League games while going on to win the Champions League. It seems like a distant dream for a reason, but don’t write them off.
According to The Sun (via The Real Champs), Chelsea have been handed a significant boost in preparation for this clash against Real Madrid. The report claims that Frank Lampard is confident Kai Havertz will return to action in time for this game.
In the first leg, Havertz remained on the bench as Lampard preferred a strike partnership of Joao Felix and Raheem Sterling. However, if Lampard is to adopt the same formation which worked in his favour, then this time around he should consider dropping Sterling for Havertz.
Havertz is a big game player. He might not be everyone’s cup of tea but Chelsea fans can always rely on him to come up with a big goal in a big moment like this. Having defeated opposition in the calibre of Real Madrid before, Kai Havertz is confident he could put in a great display in this match.
Lampard doesn’t know his best Chelsea starting eleven and, in all honesty, he won’t come to find that out in the time he has remaining. However, if Havertz is fit to start this match, then what’s the worst that could come from starting him?
