It wasn’t the best performance from an Arsenal perspective as they dropped two valuable points to London rivals West Ham United yesterday. At full time, it was incredibly difficult for fans to come up with any positives from the performance which stretches the title race even further. However, from an individual perspective, there was one positive yesterday.

The Premier League posted an incredible stat to their Instagram. It states that Gabriel Jesus, following his goal yesterday, brought his record of games which he’s scored in and remained unbeaten up to an impressive 57 games. For context, this matches Liverpool legend and Premier League veteran James Milner.

It does appear that whenever Gabriel Jesus plays well, so do his teammates. This is because his demeanour on the pitch is infectious and covering a lot of ground, his confidence is bound to have an impact on other players.

Yesterday’s match wasn’t the best example since the Gunners would have preferred to win. However, particularly in the first half, Jesus played out of this world. He dropped deep, picking up the ball from the defence directly at times. Jamie Carragher even pointed out on Sky Sports that he was playing as a right-back at times, which speaks volumes of the fluidity which Arteta has instilled.

If Arsenal are to win the Premier League title, which people forget is still a very real possibility, then it’s personalities like Jesus on the pitch which will do it for them. His return from injury came at the right time, particularly when you consider the competition of Man City and Newcastle just around the corner.

So, hats off to Gabriel Jesus. No matter what happens in the title race, he’s been one of the best players this season despite missing a lot of it through injury. This record only touches the surface when explaining how important he is to Arsenal.
