Manchester United face Nottingham Forest in the Premier League this evening. It’s a pivotal game which the Red Devils need to fit in their fight to secure Champions League football next season. After disappointingly conceding two late own goals, the players need to redeem themselves in the hearts of the United faithful.
Here’s how I predict Manchester United to lineup against Forest.
In goal will be David de Gea. I don’t think I’m exactly going out on a limb by saying this, despite playing the whole game on Thursday night.
At right-back, Diogo Dalot will return to the starting lineup. Wan-Bissaka played well against Sevilla, this is just for rotation purposes. On the other flank, Tyrell Malacia will retain his place in the starting lineup despite scoring that own goal on Thursday.
The second own goal scorer from the Sevilla match, Harry Maguire, has no choice but to play in this match, with Varane forced off through injury. He’ll be partnered by his old friend Victor Lindelof in what is a very joyful centre back partnership for United fans, not.
Casemiro will start in the midfield spot, so too will Bruno Fernandes. Therefore, an unchanged holding midfielder partnership. Despite Eriksen’s return from injury, I think Marcel Sabitzer should get the nod in this game, Ten Hag can’t bench someone after scoring a brace in the previous match just to facilitate for Eriksen who is average at best.
Then, the front three of choice will be unchanged once more. Antony, Jadon Sancho and Anthony Martial will all start in this match, although it wouldn’t surprise me to see Weghorst featured in some way, either. That’s my prediction.
Manchester United predicted lineup: De Gea, Dalot, Maguire, Lindelof, Malacia; Casemiro, Fernandes, Sabitzer; Sancho, Martial, Antony
