Alexis Mac Allister will “very likely” leave Brighton this summer as Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool will battle it out for his signature

According to Fabrizio Romano, there is a growing expectation that Alexis Mac Allister will leave Brighton & Hove Albion in the summer. Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United are the three teams in the race to sign Mac Allister.

Romano further states that all 3 clubs have been in contact with Mac Allister and his camp to discuss a potential summer move. Brighton is expected to decide on Mac Allister’s price tag soon.

Mac Allister’s father also confirmed the news, stating that his son has been in contact with clubs and that is ‘very likely’ he will be playing for a new team in the summer.

Alexis Mac Allister has seen himself rise to one of the most sought-after midfielders on the transfer market. Mac Allister played an integral part in Argentina’s success at the World Cup, including scoring against Poland and assisting in the final against France on Angel Di Maria’s goal.

Mac Allister joined Brighton in 2019, signing from Argentino Juniors after spending 3 seasons with the club, including helping them earn promotion to the Primera Division. After two brief loan spells back in Argentina, Mac Allister became a regular for Brighton during the 20/21 season.

Last season is when Alexis Mac Allister was really starting to make a name for himself, helping Brighton achieve a top-half finish in the Premier League but also notably making his way back into the Argentina National Team setup. He has been just as important to Brighton this season, on their charge to European football and conversely has seen himself as a hot topic of transfer discussion.

Will Mac Allister join Chelsea, Liverpool or Manchester United?

It was revealed earlier this week that Liverpool had dropped out of the race to sign Jude Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund as his price tag is out of their range. Moises Caicedo has also been linked but recently it looks like Arsenal is pushing more. Liverpool is expected to target other midfielders who will come much cheaper, so Mac Allister makes a lot of sense here.

Manchester United will be looking to sign a new central midfielder this summer. Donny van de Beek has struggled to stay fit for his entire tenure at Manchester United while both Fred and Eriksen are now in their 30s. On-loan Sabitzer could stay, but Alexis Mac Allister would be an immediate upgrade on the Austrian international.

Chelsea feels like it makes the least sense of the three given that Enzo Fernandez and Mateo Kovacic are pegged-in starters while there are now reports that N’Golo Kante could stay at Chelsea past this season. With that said, it is known that Todd Boehly is willing to splash the money regardless.

Who do you think will sign Alexis Mac Allister and what club makes the most sense for him?
