Despite not yet deciding his future, Folarin Balogun is already the subject to a lot of transfer talk. It’s thought the Arsenal striker who’s currently on loan at Reims will soon enter talks with Mikel Arteta about his future, since it doesn’t seem likely he’ll stay at Arsenal.

This is despite the fact that he’s absolutely teared it apart in the French top division. In fact, he’s joint second in the goal scoring department for this league, only bettered by Kylian Mbappe and Jonathan David.

It’s a nice problem for Arsenal to have but he’s simply surplus to requirements. What we have to remember is that Gabriel Jesus, Eddie Nketiah, Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Martinelli can all do a job through the centre of attack, so there really is no need to bring in Balogun to be the second or even third choice here.

With that being said, Balogun is an asset to Arsenal. Since he’s proved his worth in a foreign league as a youngster and doesn’t really fit into the Gunners’ long term plan, they could sell him to a club where he’ll get more game time for a hefty fee, which they can then reinvest back into the squad for next season.

According to 90min, Premier League side Everton are one of a few sides interested in signing Balogun. They see him as the ideal bagsman in what will hopefully be another season in the Premier League next time out. It’s thought that Sean Dyche, who has brought the best out of player through his man management approach, could get the best out of Balogun.

Certainly it would be nice to see Balogun as a Hale End graduate progress his career at Arsenal. But it doesn’t look likely at this point in time. Either way, he’ll be successful no matter where he goes.

Do you think Folarin Balogun will play for Everton next season?
