Arsenal and Chelsea have competed for their fair share of transfers in recent windows. Thinking back only to a couple of months ago, there were Mykhaylo Mudryk and Joao Felix, both of which ended up at Stamford Bridge despite being high on Mikel Arteta’s priority list.

But the age-old rivalry doesn’t stop there, despite Chelsea in mid-table and Arsenal at the top of the table. According to a new report, the two London clubs are set to battle it out again for a striker who is causing quite the scene in South America.

According Football London, both Arsenal and Chelsea are “pushing hard” to sign Vitor Roque this summer. The 18-year-old Brazilian starlet is showing a level of consistency which is hard to overlook, contributing to 19 goals last year and already scoring four this year. So much so, that Football London state he’s compared to the likes of Sergio Aguero and Carlos Tevez.

Certainly big boots to fill but Arsenal’s specialty is signing young Brazilian talents. Having Edu as the head of recruitment has certainly helped in this regard, since if anybody is in the best place to judge upcoming Brazilian talents, it’s him.

Furthermore, TEAMtalk have stated that since Barcelona were currently leading the chase for Roque, talks have since dismantled with Athletico Paranaense certainly prepare to let go of him.

Arsenal don’t really need a striker, if we’re being honest. They have Gabriel Jesus, Eddie Nketiah, Folarin Balogun, Leandro Trossard and even Gabriel Martinelli who could all do a great job in this position. Although, it does look likely that either Nketiah or Balogun will be sold this summer.

As far as Chelsea are concerned, they too have far too many attackers. Given Todd Boehly’s spending power, though, it wouldn’t surprise to see him pursue this move more.
