Manchester United have fallen short to Arsenal in the Premier League. However, Erik ten Hag, instead of accepting defeat, is willing to learn from the Gunners in the biggest possible way. According to a new report, the Red Devils eye a certain out-of-favour Arsenal striker as a potential wildcard.

That’s according to the Manchester Evening News, who report that Manchester United may take advantage of Arsenal’s striker situation by signing Folarin Balogun, who is currently out on loan at Reims. He is thought to be out of favour, with Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah both being key figureheads in the Gunners’ title charge this season.

Balogun is an incredible striker. There’s a reason why he is joint-second in Ligue 1 for goals scored, only bettered by Kylian Mbappe and Jonathan David. He will return from loan at the end of this season, hoping to charge his way into the starting eleven under Mikel Arteta which won’t be easy.

Balogun isn’t surplus to requirements because he’s a bad player. In fact, quite the opposite. Balogun is incredible and would walk into most of Europe’s top clubs. The reason he’s out of favour at Arsenal is because they’re very blessed in this position already.

For Manchester United, they need more options if they’re to improve next season. Of course, as strikers are concerned they have their talisman Marcus Rashford and Wout Weghorst. Therefore, it’s not even guaranteed that Balogun would get into the United team. However, he’d certainly be a great option, particularly as Rashford’s contract runs down.

Balogun has scored a variety of different goals this season, including a huge goal to win the game late on against giants PSG earlier this season. This is the kind of killer instinct which United are missing, and the reason why they failed so soon after entering the title race.

Do you think Folarin Balogun would sign for Manchester United?
