Arsenal predicted lineup vs Liverpool: HUGE test for Mikel Arteta
By Kian Long
It’s the big one. For all of Arsenal’s successes so far this season, this one is bound to make them nervous. However, fans hope that Mikel Arteta will use those nerves to his advantage as he hopes to win at Anfield, a ground which has not been kind to the Gunners in recent seasons.
Given the recent team news, here’s how I expect Arsenal to lineup in this match.
Arsenal predicted lineup vs Liverpool
Starting off in goal, it’s obvious that Aaron Ramsdale will be between the sticks. His American counterpart Matt Turner will likely only feature before the end of the season if the Gunners secure the title early.
Then at left-back it’s another easy choice, Oleksandr Zinchenko will start as he’s pivotal in big matches like this. Recent talisman Ben White will get the nod at right-back, a position he’s made his own this season.
The centre-back pairing of choice will be a little weakened. Saliba is unlikely to start in this match, so Rob Holding will come in once more to partner Gabriel. This pairing was pivotal to Arteta as his side got the win over Leeds – more on that below.
As for the three midfielders, it’ll be a full strength trio for Mikel Arteta, much to his pleasure. Thomas Partey will be the deepest of the three, recent goal scorer Granit Xhaka will play with more freedom ahead of him while captain Martin Odegaard will bridge the gap between midfield and attack.
Then, starting as striker in this match will be Gabriel Jesus who scored a great brace in the recent match. Bukayo Saka who was rested in that match will start on the right, while Leandro Trossard has earned a start on the right. Martinelli could easily start too, but the worst-case scenario is that he comes off the bench against tired Liverpool legs – Can’t complain about that, can we?
Arsenal predicted lineup vs Liverpool: Ramsdale, White, Gabriel, Holding, Zinchenko; Partey, Xhaka, Odegaard; Saka, Jesus, Trossard
