Thinking back to the greatest Arsenal players over the last decade, what hurts the most is not the fact that they left, but the manner in which they left. Alexis Sanchez? Joined Manchester United for virtually free. Mesut Ozil? Stayed until his value was a quarter what it could’ve been. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang? The result was the same.

Truth is, the two best options of these deals were not meant. Arsenal could’ve either tied them all to new deals, or sold them at their highest valuation before things turned sour and toxic. Long story short, the way that the North London club have dealt with departures has been shocking.

Thankfully, though, they now have a team of professionals behind the scenes who know what they’re doing. The club harmony is also much better, meaning their best players are more likely to stay.

According to trusted journalist Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal starboy Bukayo Saka is ready to put pen to paper very soon. Furthermore, according to Daniel Cutts, the club are “ready to announce” this deal already.

In my opinion, granting Bukayo Saka a new deal is the best piece of business that Arsenal have conducted over the last decade. It shows a real marker of improvement, where the board are willing to invest heavily into the young player, making him the highest-earning player at the club on £300,000 per week.

Bukayo Saka is the best winger in the Premier League right now, by a long shot. Having impressed on international duty with England by providing a great assist and an even better long-range goal, he’s really proving to the world that he’s serious in his development.

And ageing at just 21 years old, he’s only going to get better. That’s why this is the best news Arsenal have received all season.

What’s been your favourite memory of Bukayo Saka?
