Spurs have a lot of decision making to do over the coming days. They’re gifted more time with the fortunate placement of this international break, however, they have a managerial appointment to make. It looks almost certain that Antonio Conte will lose his job now, with a replacement necessary. Many fans, and apparently the players, want that replacement to be Mauricio Pochettino.

Spurs may wish to wait until the summer to appoint a full-time manager, according to talkSPORT. This is understandable given there aren’t many games left to play and assistant Ryan Mason is willing to fill in for those games.

However, The Times has reported that Real Madrid are on the hunt for a new manager and Mauricio Pochettino is very high on their shortlist. This means that Spurs can’t afford to wait around and if they want Poch back, they must act fast.

When Madrid come knocking, it’s almost impossible to turn down. You’d think that in a head-to-head battle between Los Blancos and Spurs, there’s only one choice. However, Pochettino has a close affiliation with the latter and has even said he’d like to take the opening.

Daniel Levy is a harsh but very prudent businessman. He knows what is best to do for the sake of the club and he’ll stop at nothing to achieve it. This time around, though, he must swallow his pride and be quick to snatch Poch. The potential risk of not doing so is far too hefty for a club who wants to start challenging for trophies.

Of course, there are other options for Spurs. They aren’t putting all their eggs into one basket. However, Poch’s basket is certainly the most desirable.

Who do you think will be manager of Spurs next season? Will it be Mauricio Pochettino, or do you have someone else in mind?
