Arsenal aren’t necessarily in dire need of signing an attacking midfielder. When you bear in mind they have Martin Odegaard, Fabio Vieira and Emile Smith Rowe who all do a stellar job in this position, you wouldn’t bet your life savings on them chasing an attacking midfielder in the summer transfer window.

However, if the opportunity presents itself, and Mikel Arteta sees a player who he feels would bolster the squad, then what’s stopping them? After all, the majority of Gunners’ signings over the last few windows have paid off exceptionally well.

According to the latest from Corriere dello Sport (via Sport Witness), Arsenal are planning to hijack a potential deal between Real Madrid and AC Milan.

Brahim Diaz, who is a Real Madrid player on loan to AC Milan, already had a deal in principle to sign when his loan spell ends. However, Milan have plans to lower the fee they previously agreed, which may anger Florentino Perez who is a very strict businessman. Therefore, Arsenal hope they can swoop in and secure the services of Diaz in what would be a tactically smart piece of business.

Diaz has already had an illustrious career. So far, he’s won the Premier League with Manchester City, La Liga with Real Madrid and Serie A with AC Milan. Not bad for a 23-year-old.

Arsenal hope to add him to their title winning squad, who may potentially push for the Premier League title again next season. Mikel Arteta wants to build a team of winners, hence the signings of Oleksandr Zinchenko and Gabriel Jesus.

Arteta is a big fan of Brahim Diaz and sees him as the ideal fit to his advanced footballing philosophy.

Could we see a return to the Premier League for former Manchester City man Brahim Diaz? Have your say below.
