Arsenal: Mikel Arteta wants to sign ANOTHER £60m Manchester City star

According to GiveMeSport, Journalist Steve Bates has identified Arsenal as a club who could be seriously interested in signing Joao Cancelo in the summer transfer window. The Manchester City full-back who is currently on loan at Bayern Munich, isn’t likely to remain with either club, making him an attractive option to Chelsea, Arsenal and Real Madrid.

Cancelo was known as one of the best full-backs in the Premier League and in everybody’s FPL team for his stunning goal/assist return rate. However, completely out of the blue, he was sent out on loan by Pep Guardiola in one of the most bizarre deals of the transfer window. It came due to a dip in game time, but he’s not playing too well for his loaned club either.

Due to his versatility and immense attacking input, you can see why Arsenal want to sign him. Any player who plays under Pep Guardiola is instantly guaranteed to be a success under Mikel Arteta, since the two play similar styles of football and seek similar kind of players.

Of course, Arsenal will have one pull factor in the summer transfer window that they’ve not had in recent windows: Champions League football. I don’t think I’m going out on a limb when I say that they’ll be qualified for the European competition next season. This could be a major pull factors for players like Cancelo, and could fend off the big competition in Chelsea and Madrid.

Kieran Tierney is likely to leave this summer. The Top Flight has already reported that Aston Villa are wanting to sign him, but so too are Newcastle United. Therefore, if the Scotsman does leave the Emirates Stadium in the summer, this would leave a position which needs to be filled by a player in the calibre of Cancelo.
