Chelsea injury news: World-class midfielder set to return vs Everton
By Kian Long
Having only played twice so far in a season plagued by injury, Chelsea’s world-class midfielder N’Golo Kante is set to return in this evening’s fixture against Everton in the Premier League. According to Football London, Graham Potter has finally admitted that Kante is fit and ready for action in this evening’s match.
Of course, when returning from injury it’s not often managers throw their players in the deep end right away. Particularly when you have a squad as large as Chelsea’s, there’s really no need.
Indeed, the report confirms that Potter himself had warned that he would be careful when reintegrating Kante back into the squad, so a start in this match isn’t likely. That said, Potter did say he had missed having the midfielder in the squad, with his return coming as great news.
The return from injury couldn’t come at a better time. Kante is out of contract at the end of the season and of course, the club wants to keep him as he’s valued highly at Stamford Bridge. He’s yet to play under Graham Potter, who took over after Kante suffered his injury, so it’ll be exciting to see the relationship the two of them brew.
Chelsea are entering form after their poor start to the season. It’ll do them the world of good to have Kante come back while they look to be on the rise. He’ll also be a great addition in their Champions League campaign, where they’ll face Real Madrid in the next round.
Expect to see N’Golo Kante on the bench today and if the game allows, given a cameo. The fans will demonstrate the love they still have for him, which will give the French midfielder great confidence with the ball at his feet (and, even better, without).
Do you think N’Golo Kante will play for Chelsea versus Everton?
