Team(s): Luton Town, Blackburn Rovers, Millwall, Norwich, West Brom, Coventry, Watford, Preston North End & Sunderland

Yes, that is a lot of teams. Only 8 points separate 12th-placed Sunderland from 6th-placed Millwall. The likes of Coventry, Watford, Preston North End and Sunderland will need everyone around them and above them to falter, leaving it unlikely they secure a playoff spot. Nonetheless, with each team still having 9 games left in the season, anything can happen.

West Bromwich Albion and Norwich City are the two teams currently outside of the top 6 who have the best shot at leapfrogging someone. Both clubs are no strangers to the Premier League, having both played many seasons in the top flight the last decade.

West Brom is managed by Carlos Corberan who replaced Steve Bruce and nearly joined Leeds United earlier this year. Jed Wallace who joined from promotion rivals Millwall last summer has been a key figure for the club’s forward line.

Norwich City is led by strikers Josh Sargent and Teemu Pukki who have combined for 21 goals on the season. Norwich was relegated last season from the Premier League, finishing in 20th place.

Luton Town lost former manager Nathan Jones to Southampton just before the World Cup and hired Rob Edwards as his replacement. Since then, their form has been impeccable and they look eager to reach the Premier League for the first time.

Blackburn has not been in the Premier League since 2012 and despite Ben Brereton Díaz reportedly leaving in the summer, he’s been crucial in Blackburn’s promotion hopes.

East London-based club, Millwall, has never played in the Premier League like Luton Town. The club did enjoy a short spell in the first tier of English football, before the creation of the Premier League. Charlie Cresswell has been one of the top youngsters in the Championship this season and is enjoying his time with Millwall on loan from Leeds United.

The season is far from over and there can be many twists or turns yet to come. Burnley, Sheffield and Middlesbrough all have positioned themselves to be promotion favourites. The best of the rest are set to battle it out for the remaining spots in what should be an enthralling end to the season.

Who do you see going up to Premier League?
