Manchester United star Casemiro was unceremoniously sent off during the side’s latest game against Southampton in the English Premier League. Questions have now risen as to how many games he will miss.

After getting the ball during a tackle, the Brazilian international went on to hit Carloz Alcaraz, leading to the referee dishing out a yellow card. However, following a VAR review, the official gave the United star a red card.

It has now been revealed by Manchester United that as a result of the red card against Southampton, the former Real Madrid star will be subject to a four-match ban. This will result in Casemiro missing the next four domestic games, which include a trip to Fulham for the FA Cup Quarter Finals. The other three games are league games against Newcastle, Brentford, and Everton.

An emotional Casemiro walked off the pitch, as the match ended in a 0-0 draw. This is his second red card of the English Premier League season after his first one against Crystal Palace on February 4, a decision also deemed by many to be wrong.

With a critical juncture in the season coming up, Manchester United and Erik ten Hag will definitely miss the services of the Brazilian star. Along with Casemiro, United are also without the services of Marcel Sabitzer, Donny van de Beek, and Christian Eriksen in midfield.

Scott McTominay was brought on against Southampton to main control and discipline in the midfield. It remains to be seen how Ten Hag will deal with this blow.

However, Casemiro’s next showing will be against Real Betis on March 16, in the return leg of the UEFA Europa League. Manchester United already leads 4-1 after the first tie and will hope to secure a place in the Quarter Finals of the tournament. The former Real Madrid star is also slated to represent Brazil in the upcoming International break. It remains to be seen how he will look to bounce back following the disappointment of two red cards withing a span of weeks.
