Olivier Giroud has had a rather stellar career. Winning a Ligue 1 title, 4 FA Cups, the Champions League, Europa League, Serie A title AND the World Cup – I think it’s fair to say the ex Arsenal forward is one of the most underrated players of all time.

Playing now for AC Milan, he helped the Italian giants to knock out Tottenham Hotspur – a club who he has always disliked, playing for both Arsenal and Chelsea. Now Spurs are out of the Champions League and Giroud played a key part.

As you can imagine, his ability to hold up the ball, wind up Spurs defenders, and compete for loose balls, went a long way to helping Milan through to the quarterfinals of the competition. If we’re being honest, nobody expected Spurs to go through to the next round, not against a legitimate club with a genuine rich history in the competition.

Olivier Giroud mentions Arsenal as he trolls Tottenham Hotspur

Giroud has paid his respects to Arsenal fans. Speaking to CBS, he was asked what the win against Spurs meant to him on a personal level, of course drawing on his previous affiliation with arch rivals Arsenal.

"“It means a lot for me, I received a nice warm welcome here from the fans but as an ex-Gunner it will always feel good to win there at Tottenham.” – Olivier Giroud on beating Tottenham in the Champions League (CBS Sports)"

Isn’t it great to see Giroud doing well? As an Arsenal fan, I’ve never felt salty about Giroud’s successes and I’m sure I’m not alone in this claim. Giroud never left the club with a bitter taste. Despite joining Chelsea, he’s always shown love for his beloved “Gunners”.

What do you think, Gunners? Could you think of a better player to send Spurs out of the Champions League?
