The Arsenal police are out in full force once again. Richard Keys has been quick to comment on the comeback which Arsenal completed against Bournemouth yesterday. It was an incredible moment which neutral fans should watch in awe as a reminder of how great this game is but no – Keys has found a reason to moan.
According to football365, Richard Keys has questioned how late in the match Reiss Nelson scored the winner. It’s an absolutely idiotic comment but it’s one that’s been cropping up a lot lately – let’s dissect it. It won’t take long.
There was a MINIMUM of 6 added minutes. By minimum, this means the referee can allow as much time after 90+6 to be played as he sees fit. The Bournemouth players were time-wasting all game, surprise surprise, and it was no different in injury time. Therefore, the time added on which allowed Reiss Nelson to score was absolutely justified.
Still, the media will find absolutely any reason to downplay Arsenal’s successes. They’ll see the scoresheet without even watching the game and make comments. Furthermore, they’ll completely ignore the fact that the Gunners were denied two stonewall penalties, along with other 50/50 penalty claims.
Let’s be fair to Keys though – this time, he’s said he “understands” the celebrations after the match, given the drama in the game. That was weird, but shows signs of progress – perhaps now he’s reset his calendar to the year 2023 where sport is supposed to be fun, and you’re supposed to celebrate victories.
To summarise, it’s simple maths. A football match is supposed to be 90 minutes, but when a team wastes time (which is happening every match against Arsenal), then the referee will add on time. If the added time still involves time wasting, there will be ADDED ADDED time. And so on.
Do you agree with Richard Keys?
