Chances are, you’re reading this post with the highlights from Arsenal’s comeback against Bournemouth in the background. If you aren’t, then you’re not spending your Sundays right.
That was quite possibly the best second half of football we’ve seen in the Premier League this season. Being 2-0 down, the Gunners dug deep to find three late goals, completing the comeback to 3-2. For context, a goal was scored in the first 11 seconds of the game, and a goal was scored in the final 1 second of the game. I love this game.
Although Gabriel Martinelli had a quiet game by his standards, he was one of the most passionate in the celebrations. That’s what this title charge is all about – players when stepping up when others can’t.
Martinelli posted on Instagram at full-time with a picture of him and his Arsenal bestie, Fabio Vieira. The two have formed a brotherly love which is heartwarming to see. In recent times, Vieira has described Martinelli as a “good guy with a good heart“.
Martinelli’s post was captioned “never give up”, which is an affirmation both players can live by. Both have had times of hardship throughout their Arsenal careers, but both are proving to be critical players to the Gunners’ title charge.
What struck a chord with most Arsenal fans wasn’t the post, however, it was the comments. 23-year-old Porto striker commented “que dupla” which translates in English to “what a duo”. And he’s not wrong.
After Vieira’s brilliant assist for Gabriel Martinelli to seal the match against Aston Villa a couple of weeks ago, it’s exciting to see how this friendship blossoms both on and off the pitch.
Which goal did you celebrate more – Reiss Nelson’s against Bournemouth or Jorginho’s against Aston Villa?
