A key component to Arsenal’s Premier League season so far has been the injury to Gabriel Jesus. Picking up an injury at the World Cup has meant Jesus missing the entire second half of the season so far – but he’s due to return to action this month.

Seeing Gabriel Jesus return from injury could be the psychological boost that Arsenal players need to see their lead through till the end of the season. Not that they need any more motivation, but one of their best players returning from injury will be more than welcomed.

Jesus went through a dry scoring patch before the World Cup, but he provides so much more to this Arsenal team than just goals alone. His work rate off the ball makes him one of the best number nines in the league and Mikel Arteta certainly appreciates his hard working nature.

In a recent press conference, Mikel Arteta was asked about Gabi’s recovery, and he gave the perfect response. According to the gaffer, Jesus has shown improvement by carrying out more work with the team, which is a significant marker of return. He’s not 100% fit – but he’s not far from a return.

With the upcoming international break, this could prove to be a perfect time to ease Jesus back into action. Eddie Nketiah, despite being rested in some recent matches, does a sufficient job at  striker for Arsenal. While the Jesus return is anticipated, there’s no need to rush and risk further injury, when Eddie is available.

It’ll be a testing time for Mikel Arteta and his team as they compete to finish the season top of the table. The two Manchester sides are breathing down their neck, however, all they need to do is keep up their winning form, which is made more possible when Gabriel Jesus returns.
