Chelsea: Potential U-turn reveals Boehly could stick with Graham Potter

Going back on your choice is oftentimes embarrassing. When your plan doesn’t go right, it’s important that as someone with authority at a giant football club, you swallow your pride and do what’s right for the time. However, the latest report reveals that Chelsea chairman Todd Boehly could bite the bullet and stick with Graham Potter.
According to the latest today from the Guardian, Chelsea are planning to stick with Graham Potter, even if the Blues lose to Leeds and Borussia Dortmund. It was thought these were the two games that Potter had to win to save his career at Stamford Bridge, as reported yesterday.
This severe U-turn is thought to be a case of pragmatism. Todd Boehly wants to instil his trust in Potter for longer than a simple half a season. When he was unveiled as Chelsea manager, nobody thought he had it easy since things were already looking frail at the club.
The report has revealed that Boehly has recognised the part he’s played in making Potter’s job harder than it needed to be. Yesterday, Graham Potter felt ‘undermined’ by Todd Boehly since squad training became hard due to mounting pressure from a larger than usual squad.
At the moment, things aren’t looking great for Chelsea. They sit 10th in the table and they’re without a win in their last 5 league games. While Potter isn’t entirely to blame, a large majority of the fans want him gone.
The true extent of Potter’s lifelines are yet to be revealed. You’d think that two wins against Leeds United and Borussia Dortmund would do his job security the world of good – however, we know that football is a cruel business, therefore you wouldn’t put it past Boehly making the rash decision to fire Potter on the spot, despite this vote of confidence. He is a very emotional businessman, as the transfer window demonstrated.
Do you think Graham Potter will keep his Chelsea job?
