The summer transfer window might seem like a lifetime away, however, it’ll be here before we know it. Already, Arsenal are planning their strategies to maximise the time available to them.

Having already been interested in Raheem Sterling in his Manchester City days, Arsenal are now looking to reignite their interest. According to 90min, Mikel Arteta is a big fan and could size up a bid for the Chelsea forward in summer. However, as far as the reporter is aware, Raheem Sterling isn’t looking to move away from Stamford Bridge.

Raheem Sterling is a rapid wide-man, and as a player who could slot into the striker role, he is of immense interest to Arteta. Injuries in attack have cost the Gunners so far this season given the injury to Gabriel Jesus. Therefore, signing a versatile attacker who could easily fulfil that role will be an asset next season.

Sterling joins a growing list of attackers on Arsenal’s summer shortlist. Yesterday, The Top Flight reported that Arsenal were keen admirers of Lautaro Martinez. A key theme to Arsenal’s transfer strategy is their use of backup options. Look at Oleksandr Zinchenko, Leandro Trossard and Jorginho as examples – none of these players were Arsenal’s first-choice, however, they have performed very well since signing and are key to the title charge.

There’s a lot going on at Chelsea – I think that’s the best way to describe it. They have a plethora of players, a squad the size of which has never been seen, and it’s likely they’ll have a new manager in the near future.

Yesterday, it was revealed that Graham Potter was on his final ultimatum and has just two matches left to save his Chelsea career. This could have a significant impact on whether Raheem Sterling wants to join Arsenal, it could come down to a choice between Arteta and Chelsea’s new manager, whoever that may be.
