“Seriously?” Manchester United fans react as Wout Weghorst starts in final

The Manchester United full lineup has been announced on social media for the upcoming Carabao Cup final against Newcastle United. For the most part, fans are happy with Erik ten Hag’s selection, however, there’s one player in the starting lineup that fans aren’t so keen on.

Wout Weghorst has been named as Manchester United’s striker. It’s not a decision which has been ignored, as a section of fans are quick to raise their concerns with the choice.

With the game kicking off in half an hour, Manchester United fans are not displaying any confidence in Wout Weghorst. Although, we did see in the World Cup that he’s a player that can deliver in big matches so this Carabao Cup final could be his time to prove them wrong.

Since he signed from Besiktas, Weghorst has scored just one goal in nine games for United. Therefore, he’s nowhere as prolific as Erik ten Hag would like him to be. His one goal came in a league cup game against Nottingham Forest at the end of January.

You can understand the frustration and scrutiny from the United fans. After all, they’re having a terrific season so Weghorst should be involving himself amongst the goals but he’s not. Playing as a striker for Manchester United is not to be taken for granted – they’ve had some legendary goal scorers over the years, so Weghorst has big boots to fill.

Let’s see what Manchester United fans have been saying about Wout Weghorst starting in the Carabao Cup final…

Confidence has been lost already.

When you put it like that, it’s hard to disagree with this Man United fan.

Reasonable question to ask given his lack of form and the intensity of the game.

Uh oh.

Do you think Wout Weghorst will be on the scoresheet in the Carabao Cup final?
