Arsenal continued winning ways in the Premier League yesterday as they picked up a well-fought and deserved 1-0 win against Leicester City away from home. Alex Zinchenko was named captain in the buildup to the match to show respect for the year anniversary of the Ukrainian-Russian conflict.

Yet again, Zinchenko played amazingly and demonstrated the exact reason why Arsenal signed him. Since he made the move from Manchester City, he’s not looked back. His new club in North London is outperforming his former club in Manchester. Many would argue he’s always been the catalyst for success.

Zinchenko is a real fan favourite at the Emirates Stadium, so it’s no surprise to see them celebrate his captaincy yesterday. It’s since been revealed that the idea was suggested by the usual captain Martin Odegaard. It’s a respectful and thoughtful touch, which shows the exact reason why Odegaard is captain in the first place – the togetherness and unity in this Arsenal side is unlike anything fans have seen before.

This is exactly what Mikel Arteta would want as this collective mentality is pivotal to his long-term project at the club. They are tipped to win the league, especially with world-class players such as Zinchenko, Odegaard, Saka and Jesus.
