Luck is truly in Manchester United’s favour ahead of the Carabao Cup final. Firstly, Newcastle’s two main goalkeepers are unavailable (Nick Pope is suspended and Martin Dubravka is cup-tied). Secondly, Antony is expected to be fit for United. Thirdly, Ryan Fraser is expected to be ruled out of the match.

That’s according to the Daily Mail, who reported that Fraser had been asked to train away from the senior squad with the U-21s. Since the turn of the World Cup, Fraser has only appeared in the matchday squad a measly 3 times.

He probably wouldn’t have started anyway, but it comes as good news to Manchester United because it limits Newcastle’s options in attack. They also know one lineup choice for sure now too, so Erik ten Hag can plan around this.

All the signs are pointing in favour of Manchester United winning this match. However, they must first overcome their Europa League test against Barcelona tonight. Since there’s just 3 days between the two important matches, ten Hag will have to think extensively about his lineup choices to avoid burnout or injury for his best players.

When the full lineup is released for tonight’s game, we can gage how Manchester United will lineup against Newcastle. Red Devil Armada have done a solid job at predicting the lineup where Antony doesn’t feature. Perhaps he is preparing to go in the Carabao Cup final instead, which he won’t complain about.

The cup final, regardless of what neutral fans say, is a big match. It’s the first opportunity for any English club to get silverware, which they hope will inspire them to push for more. Both Newcastle and Man United are having terrific seasons so they will fight hard to reward themselves with a trophy – be prepared for a great game.
