If you told me a month ago that Jorginho and Granit Xhaka would be best of friends, I would’ve walked away slowly. But ever since the Brazil-Italy international signed for Arsenal from Chelsea, Xhaka has showed how much of a gentleman he truly is off the field.

Celebrating the rocket that Jorginho shot which forced a late own goal to win the match against Aston Villa, Xhaka ran the length of the pitch from the sub bench to be with his new-found friend. The two have an unlikely but wholesome bromance, both on and off the pitch.

Of course, this wasn’t always the case. When Jorginho played for Chelsea, there were multiple occasions where he and Xhaka would brawl on the field. Both are passionate players who want to win, so it’s great to see them thriving together under Mikel Arteta.

In a recent interview with beIN Sports, Jorginho revealed the true extent of their relationship off the field. He claimed that after asking Xhaka where it was best to go for dinner, he immediately booked Jorginho a table and didn’t let him pay. This was a gesture which Jorginho was incredibly thankful for, and shows the culture surrounding Arsenal at the moment.

I’ve always thought Xhaka was a great player and an even better player to have in the dressing room. Even with all the drama surrounding his captaincy, I had a feeling he’d come back stronger and he’s proving me right. And no, I’m not just saying this for free dinner (although, I am definitely envious of Jorginho).

What’s been your favourite Granit Xhaka moment so far this season?
