Mohamed Elneny has signed a one-year contract extension, in the hopes that he recovers well from his current injury under good faith from the Arsenal staff. It was announced earlier today, and fans have been quick to show their love to the recovering midfielder.

Elneny has been with Arsenal since 2016, making him the current longest-serving player at the club. He has had many good memories with the fans, including scoring a belter of a goal against Barcelona at Camp Nou in the Champions League.

Elneny isn’t expected back until the middle of next season, which is a big blow. He doesn’t often start for Arsenal but when he comes on, he is a solid addition and perfect to tighten up the midfield. Hence why Jorginho was signed on deadline day to play a similar role.

That’s exactly why Arsenal have gifted Elneny this one-year contract extension. The club has instilled enough trust into Elneny up until this point to know that he will recover well and fight to gain his place back in the team. When he is fully recovered from his injury, Elneny will come back safe in the knowledge that there is time remaining on his contract.
