Bernardo Silva – 8

What a hit. Bernardo Silva has had a sub-par season this year by his standards, and that includes in the goalscoring category. It seems as if it was worth the wait, with the sweetest of strikes right before halftime putting Manchester City into the lead. He struck across the ball, first time no less, and put it right past Keylor Navas. For a while, it looked like his goal might prove the difference between the two sides.

Rodri – 8

Rodri manned the midfield like a pro. He kept control for City, broke up or held off oncoming counterattacks from Forest players, and did his best not to dangle out a leg against Brennan Johnson in what ultimately became the leveling goal. In his efforts to not give away a penalty, he got run over and ultimately Forest scored, but I’m not sure what else he could’ve done in that situation with the ball progressing that far up the pitch.

Ilkay Gundogan – 7

As with Rodri, Gundogan found all the right spaces to allow Manchester City control from midfield. Had a good shot saved by Keylor Navas, but nothing more amounted for Gundogan as he simply kept the ball moving for Pep’s side.

Kevin De Bruyne – 7

De Bruyne created two big chances for Manchester City in this one and did his best to add to the scoring. However, today his shots weren’t going the way would’ve liked. His technique seemed a bit off, at times even rushed in moments where he could’ve added a touch to create a better angle. All in all, it’s hard to blame him for having his own go at goal given the lack of finishing City displayed in this match today.

He came at Forest from all angles, but nothing seemed to quite work out in terms of the effect on the scoresheet today. As previously stated, he should have had at least one assist in this match with Rodri being on the end of an unmarked header close to the goal but failing to put it into the back of the net.
