After defeating league leaders Arsenal, Manchester City fail to claim all three points away at Nottingham Forest.

Manchester City had a massive midweek result against Arsenal, but turn right around and drop points against Nottingham Forest where missed opportunities came back to haunt them. It was a game where Manchester City absolutely dominated and perhaps got a bit complacent in the flow of the match. As happens in the Premier League, one moment can change the outcome of the entire game, which is exactly what transpired today for both Manchester City and Nottingham Forest.

Here are my player ratings for Manchester City:

Ederson – 6

Ederson was not called into any action unless of course, you count the goal that was scored on his net that leveled the match. This is not uncommon for Manchester City and Ederson, but today, once again, he was hardly given a chance at stopping the back-post goal from Chris Wood.

He was 4/7 with his long balls and maintained higher accuracy with his short-range passing throughout the match, working quickly in an effort to keep the ball and momentum with City.

Kyle Walker – 7

Provided a lot of overlapping runs that did cause Forest problems in this match. On top of his relentless energy on the up and down the right side, Walker also completed the most passes out of any Manchester City player (91). He was quick with any action and pass made, but ultimately, he was the defender on the back post and I will be harsh in saying he should’ve done better to keep the ball from getting to Wood.

Ruben Dias – 7

There is a certain level of comfort Manchester City fans feel when Dias is included in the defensive setup. He just has that aura about him that everything is going to be okay. Undeniably, today things didn’t turn out okay for City and Dias, but their defense looks much better with him included in it. He completed 95% of his passes, read the game well, and won each and every of his ground and aerial battles. The scoreline doesn’t do his performance justice.

Aymeric Laporte – 7

As with Dias, Laporte didn’t do much wrong here in this match. As the game wore on, he found himself a little bit higher up, even providing overlapping runs to try and pull defenders away from Jack Grealish. The fact of the matter is, Laporte does better in a back four than a back three, as does the entirety of Manchester City’s defense in my eyes.
