The table doesn’t lie. We all know Arsenal have had a magnificent season so far, having their best start to a Premier League campaign and two points ahead of City with a game in hand, many dub them as favourites to win the title come the end of the season.

However, the thing about this season which is different to previous seasons is that you cannot attribute this to just one Arsenal player. Every single player that has made at least one appearance for the Gunners has played their part.

Taking a look at the top goal scorer charts in the Premier League, it’s very rare to see a team even have two players in the charts, but if you have a look below, Arsenal have FOUR. To put that into perspective, the only other team with multiple goal scorers is Leicester City with two players.

Premier League top goalscorers so far

  1. Erling Haaland (26 goals)
  2. Harry Kane (17 goals)
  3. Ivan Toney (14 goals)
  4. Marcus Rashford (12 goals)
  5. Aleksandar Mitrovic (11 goals)
  6. Rodrigo Moreno & Miguel Almiron (10 goals)
  7.  –
  8. Bukayo Saka & James Maddison (9 goals)
  9. Martin Odegaard, Mohamed Salah, Leandro Trossard, Gabriel Martinelli & Harvey Barnes (8 goals)

Haaland is at the top by some distance and at this point, him winning the golden boot is pretty much confirmed. It’s just a case now of when he’ll break the record for most goals scored which, again, looks pretty much confirmed.

The point that I’m getting at is, it’s been pivotal to Arsenal’s success that when one player isn’t at their best, the others are. Think of it like income – you should aim to have multiple sources of income because if one fails, which can easily happen in this economy, you have other sources to make up for that lost income.

It’s the same here, and a big reason why Arsenal signed Leandro Trossard. He didn’t score in yesterday’s match against Aston Villa, but Gabriel Martinelli came on and did. It was the same but the vice-versa against Brentford.
