Rodri – 8 MOTM

Rodri was immense in this game. Contrary to a very rough performance against Spurs, he scored a wonderful header to kick off the scoring for Manchester City, but also controlled midfield like he normally does. From his deep-lying role, he looked genuinely threatening and created the most chances (4) in the match. Can’t complain about this performance one bit.

Gundogan – 7

As he did so many times back in the 2021/22 season, Gundogan once again got himself into some great positions throughout this game. With one goal and another pretty decent chance to either score or perhaps more likely pass to Haaland, he was a reliable performer today for Manchester City.

Bernardo Silva -6.5

From a personal perspective, it’s nice to see Bernardo Silva back in the picture in this City side. While he wasn’t at his best in this one, he kept the midfield ticking and was found all over the pitch even at times appearing amongst the back line. Connecting on 90% of his passes, putting 5 passes into the final third, with 108 touches, he was an important part of how Manchester City operated today.

Kevin De Bruyne – 7

Kevin De Bruyne started a little slow, often found amongst the forward line when in possession, rather than being involved in the buildup. Once he dropped back a bit and got on the ball, it was magic. Had an xA of .20, and clearly demonstrated why he needs to be starting from the first whistle against Arsenal in midweek. He created 3 chances but didn’t register an assist. Nonetheless, he looked much improved from what fans have seen in recent weeks.
