Pep Guardiola takes dig at Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard

Manchester City is under heat after the Premier League announced multiple alleged financial breaches by the club and Pep Guardiola has had enough of the cheating talk
A statement released on February 6th by the Premier League indicates that they have launched an investigation into potential breaches of financial rules spanning from the 09/10 season to the 17/18 season by Pep Guardiola’s current club Manchester City.
What will happen this time around should the findings of the initial allegations be true is yet to be seen. Some are calling for Manchester City to be deducted points while others believe the club should be fully relegated from the Premier League.
Another topic that has come to light is whether or not Manchester City are “cheaters”. Many feel that their Premier League titles are tarnished if the breaches are found to be true.
In a presser for the build-up to Manchester City vs. Aston Villa, Pep Guardiola bizarrely says “I don’t know if it’s our fault for Steven Gerrard slipping”. The context of the question was about the legitimacy of Manchester City’s titles.
He is of course referring to the infamous Steven Gerrard slip that allowed Chelsea’s Demba Ba to score the game-winner in a match that ultimately played a massive part in Liverpool’s title choke to Manchester City in 2014. Pep Guardiola feels that no matter the outcome of the investigation that the memories of the titles will live forever in the hearts of the club and its supporters.
What could happen to Manchester City?
It’s difficult to say, especially since these investigations can be a long and gruelling process. In a funny twist of things, it was recently covered by The Top Flight that the independent lawyer for the case is an Arsenal fan.
Juventus have recently been deducted 15 points in Serie A because of financial discrepancies in their budgeting. Should the club only be fined, given their current ownership structure that would merely be a slap on the wrist. On the other side, it is hard to believe anything more than a moderate points deduction would happen.
The situation is currently evolving and there is plenty of news to follow.
